LinkedIn Queens #901 answer — October 18, 2026

Unofficial hints. Not affiliated with LinkedIn.

Hints get stronger as you go. The answer is always the last step — nothing is revealed until you tap.

This Queens has exactly one solution, and you can reach it without guessing. Every step below follows from the rules. A “check” step shows why a queen can't go somewhere; it never asks you to gamble.

  1. 1Where to lookShow hint

Look at row 7, column 7, and what a queen there would do to the green region.

  2. 2The first deductionShow hint

A queen at row 7, column 7 would leave the green region with no open cell, so that cell stays empty.

    Pattern

No-touching check. A queen in that cell would cover every open cell of another region, so it can't go there.

  3. 3The first queenShow hint

The green region has one open cell left (row 8, column 7), so its queen goes there.

Steps 1–13 of the walkthrough rule out the cells marked ×.

  4. 4Solve it step by stepShow hint

Rows count from the top and columns from the left. Every queen rules out the rest of its row, its column and its color region, plus the eight cells around it.

    1. No-touching check. A queen at row 7, column 7 would leave the green region with no open cell, so that cell stays empty.
    2. No-touching check. A queen at row 8, column 2 would leave the purple region with no open cell, so that cell stays empty.
    3. No-touching check. A queen at row 6, column 3 would leave the blue region with no open cell, so that cell stays empty.
    4. No-touching check. A queen at row 8, column 9 would leave the green region with no open cell, so that cell stays empty.
    5. No-touching check. A queen at row 9, column 2 would leave the blue region with no open cell, so that cell stays empty.
    6. A region trapped in one column. The purple region lies entirely in column 1, so the queen of column 1 belongs to it and every other cell of column 1 is empty.
    7. A region trapped in one row. The red region lies entirely in row 1, so the queen of row 1 belongs to it and every other cell of row 1 is empty.
    8. A region trapped in one column. The beige region lies entirely in column 9, so the queen of column 9 belongs to it and every other cell of column 9 is empty.
    9. A region trapped in one row. The orange region lies entirely in row 9, so the queen of row 9 belongs to it and every other cell of row 9 is empty.
    10. Pigeonhole: two regions in two rows. The purple and green regions lie entirely within rows 7 and 8, so the queens of those rows belong to them and every other cell of rows 7 and 8 is empty.
    11. A region trapped in one column. The blue region lies entirely in column 2, so the queen of column 2 belongs to it and every other cell of column 2 is empty.
    12. A region trapped in one row. The pink region lies entirely in row 2, so the queen of row 2 belongs to it and every other cell of row 2 is empty.
    13. A region trapped in one column. The yellow region lies entirely in column 8, so the queen of column 8 belongs to it and every other cell of column 8 is empty.
    14. Last open cell. The green region has one open cell left (row 8, column 7), so its queen goes there.
    15. Last open cell. The purple region has one open cell left (row 7, column 1), so its queen goes there.
    16. Last open cell. The blue region has one open cell left (row 5, column 2), so its queen goes there.
    17. A column trapped in one region. The open cells of column 6 all belong to the gray region, so its queen sits in column 6 and its other cells are empty.
    18. No-touching check. A queen at row 1, column 4 would leave the pink region with no open cell, so that cell stays empty.
    19. Last open cell. The red region has one open cell left (row 1, column 3), so its queen goes there.
    20. Last open cell. The pink region has one open cell left (row 2, column 5), so its queen goes there.
    21. Last open cell. The orange region has one open cell left (row 9, column 4), so its queen goes there.
    22. No-touching check. A queen at row 3 or 4, column 8 would leave the beige region with no open cell, so both cells stay empty.
    23. Last open cell. The yellow region has one open cell left (row 6, column 8), so its queen goes there.
    24. Last open cell. The gray region has one open cell left (row 4, column 6), so its queen goes there.
    25. Last open cell. The beige region has one open cell left (row 3, column 9), so its queen goes there.
  5. 5Queens #901 solutionShow answer
